A Chinese Red Lacquered 'Dragon' Low Table, Kangzhuo
18th/19th Century
清中期 朱漆彩繪龍紋炕桌
the square top panel carved and highlighted in black paint showing a central large floriform reserve enclosing a writhing dragon chasing the flaming pearl of wisdom amongst auspicious clouds above mountain peaks emerging from crashing waves, enclosed by striding dragons on the corners, all reserved on a diaper ground; the similar carved dragon motif repeated on the shaped aprons, spandrels and square section legs.
